Expatriate
If you are intending to change your country of residence, or if you have it planned out already, I offer professional guidance to make it less stressful, either individually or for the whole family. I have developed a proper approach, that combines coaching techniques and behavioral analysis: preparing individuals or families to expatriate in the most assertive way possible, minimizing the characteristic fears and anguishes of the unknown by mapping, demystifying and planning out future challenging situations and experiences.
During the distressful moments of deciding or changing your country of residence (the so-called process of expatriation), I offer professional guidance and assistance, either individually or for the whole family, to make it less stressful.
Besides of the possible difficulties in adapting there are personal insecurities like the cultural shock, language barriers at work, social relationships, like new friends, travelling without the family and the pressure of not achieving the goals, expected by the new employee (in case of a career change)
Changing cities implies in special, physical and physiological changes. Changing countries means summing up all these changes at once, adding the sensation of losing yourself. The human being is the sum of his experiences lived alone, in a group and in a country. It must be taken into consideration that adaptation depends on several factors, like various culture conceptions communicative obstacles, lack or weak governmental policies, social hierarchies, different economies, amongst others.
Having to take decisions by yourself that have far-fetched consequences is not easy. Having to decide for yourself and your family is far more complex. The lack of a harmony at home has a direct and sometimes brutal impact on the adaptation process and consequently affecting work performance. This is itself a reason to avoid conflicting situations, or further, the pleasure of coming home after a day of work can never be replaced by marital crisis, unhappy children and frustrated expectations.
This can bring great suffering and psychological problems like anxiety and depression. Many times, professional help is crucial.
My online psychological assistance offers support to Brazilians living in abroad and to foreigners that live in Brazil who are undergoing the immigration process, even if temporary.
Me and my team have more than 20 years of multicultural experience. We know how it is to be away from our loved ones and sometimes not recognizing the cities we should know as “ours”. For this exact reason we decided to look after your, and your familie’s well-being since the first moment of this process. We count on professionals and families in the following countries:
- Chile,
- China
- Germany,
- Peru,
- Portugal,
- Taiwan
- United Arab Emirates,
- United States of America,
- Uruguay
Families that I have accompanied describe the adaptation process in another country as “not easy” and we have to be clear about the fact that immigration without fear does not exist. However, this is a very rich experience and being able to cope with specific issues, you have the possibility to modify, to grow and to reinvent yourself.
There are many different motivations to move to another country, among them, international transfer for career development, living in an academic world, learn a new language, explor cultural richness, live a love story, the search for superior life conditions, or a better work-life balance. Whichever your reason may be, consider a quick chat with me.
